Alissa Oppenheimer
I graduated from Lincoln Park Academy in 2008. I earned my Associates in Arts degree from Indian River State College in 2010 and transferred to Florida Tech to study Space Sciences. I started working in the Geospace Physics Lab when I became a student at Florida Tech where I assisted the graduate students and their work in lightning research under the advisement of Dr. Jospeh Dwyer. In summer 2012 I received an REU position at the University of Alabama, Huntsville and the Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research. Under the advisement of Dr. Amy Winebarger, her post-doc fellow, Dr Fana Mulu-Moore, and her Research Assistant, Samaiyah Farid, I created an algorithm to automatically detect EUV coronal loops. From this research I was able to attend the Fall 2012 AGU meeting in San Francisco.
