Resident Assistant at Lebanon Valley College Residential Life
The responsibilities of this job are vast and are worth much more than the monetary benefits. As an RA in a building of all upperclassmen my first year was a unique challenge. Those students were independent in their lives on campus which I truly enjoyed learning about their lifestyles and experiences on LVC's campus. There were very few incidences that required a write-up in our building, which I think is because of the presidence that our RA staff set at the beginning of the semester. My time as an RA taught me a lot about professional interactions with fellow classmates as well as the adult staff that were the directors and supervisors of the student RA staff.

Student Valley Ambassador at LVC Valley Ambassador

Valley Ambassadors are hired by the Office of Admission for very important roles. As a part of the hiring process, the criteria includes a love for LVC community, a knowledge of the campus and a positive attitude.

Throughout the work-week, I have been assigned to giving tours to prospective students and their family. This is a fun part of the job in which I get to share the place I call "home away from home." When I am not touring families, I am sending letters and invitations to other families filled with great facts about LVC to entice prospective students to visit our campus.

As a unique aspect of the job, I was chosen as a special worker to work adjacent to the secretary by answering calls from students, parents, high school guidance counselors and other colleges that may have various different questions about LVC.

As a Valley Ambassador, there are weekend events that we participate by facilitating the success of the day for students and their families. Discovery Day is just one of the few events that are hosted by the Office of Admission which allows prospective students to see many aspects of LVC.

This on-campus job has given me the opportunity to expand my horizons by learning about all that LVC has to offer a student. I have gained confidence in conversing with various people. It has been said that most times the first interaction that students have with LVC is with the Valley Ambassadors which I take seriously to ensure that they get the true sense of our campus community.
