Andrew Koskela

Greetings, my name is Andrew Koskela. Growing up in a military family was a very unique way to learn about life and the world. I found myself constantly moving and by the nature of military life, making new friends everywhere we went. In fact, I moved every three years of my life. However, my mother gifted my two older brothers and I a way to cope with the stressful changes inherit of being an Army Brat. Music. I picked up the trumpet in the sixth grade and never put it down. Since then, my professional career has consisted of 7 years active duty in the Army Band Field, which led me to such places as Oklahoma, Virginia Beach VA, Alabama and South Korea. It was this exciting experience that blossomed my vocation of musical performance and professionalism. After being honorably from active duty, I re-enlisted in to the Army National Guard Band, and enrolled at Berklee College of music. I now have 10 years of military service completed. My personal goals are to become well versed in all genres of trumpet performance, and to become the Hired Gun. My ultimate goal is to form a touring chamber ensemble, known as a brass quintet. I firmly believe that gaining as much knowledge as possible in all fields of music should be instinctive of a musician in order to be viable in its market. My mother always said, Life is what you make it, and I live by this.
