Anthony Narvaez
After a drug-ridden childhood, Anthony used his clarinet to pull himself out of poverty and make college a reality. He served multiple leadership roles in Model UN conferences in San Francisco as well as musical ensembles and clubs at Heidelberg. Studying Foreign Policy in the Washington Semester Program, he interned with the Hispanic College Fund, helping distribute over $2 million in academic scholarships to Hispanic college students and debuted as the guest performer in the Hispanic College Funds One US gala on his clarinet. Most recently, Anthony just completed a prestigious public policy fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University's graduate school, Heinz College in Pittsburgh called PPIA (Public Policy & International Affairs) with nineteen other students from across the nation who were accepted out of an applicant pool over over five hundred. There he was able to develop and sharpen his quantitative, analytic, and professional skills necessary for a career in public policy as well as admission into the top graduate schools in the country. Anthony currently serves as the president of his fraternity, Sigma Tau Nu, and also stays actively involved with music ensembles and even the Academic Enhancement Committee. He also works as an assistant to one of his professors and mentors, helps fundraising with the Phonathon, and speaks with prospective Heidelberg students in the Telecenter for the Admissions Office. In the future, Anthonys goal is to pursue a career in drug policy and improve the communities affected by the socioeconomic ills of drug culture.
