Ashley Fischer
University of Wisconsin - River Falls, Class of 2012
From Brooklyn Park, MN
My main goal is to be the best teacher possible to all my students and I want to make a difference in their lives. When working with AmeriCorps and the Minnesota Literacy council, I traveled to multiple elementary schools and community buildings in Minneapolis. I felt in my element when I taught summer school to a group of students whose families come from poverty. Teaching is what I was born to do and I believe this statement with all my heart. I explored further in Minneapolis and I accepted a job at Waite Park Elementary school. During this experience I got to create engaging lesson plans and created strong bonds with students. I currently student teach in Mounds View after working with 5th graders in St.Paul. As a teacher I will have patience, a sense of humor, a fair mindset, and a positive attitude. I will not take things for granted and I will continue to be kind, respectful, and a great listener.
