Department of Medicine Intern at Long Island Jewish Medical Center
I am interning with Maria Torroella Carney M.D., Chief of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. My research includes decision-making capacity and its assessment. I am writing journal articles for publication regarding The Bedside Capacity Assessment Tool (BCAT). I am currently designing and writing my own study assessing the validity and educational potential of the BCAT. I attended meetings with physicians and medicine chiefs, attended Grand Rounds, wrote grant proposals, reviewed articles for a peer-review journal, and underwent CITI human subjects training. I also shadowed both Dr. Carney and Dr. Gisele Wolf-Klein in their private Geriatrics practice, where I examined patient interactions and administered Mini-Mental Status Exams (MMSEs).

Currently, I am researching the interaction between episodic and semantic memory and the positivity bias of memory the aging brain. I also study the aging positive bias. I published a poster at the 2013 Psychonomic Annual Meeting. In this study, we examined how shortening a healthy, young adult's time horizon caused a memory bias switch from negative/neutral to positive.
