Codruta Haselmayer
I aspire to fulfill my potential and ultimately to obtain a PhD in Social Psychology, but I am also striving to become a role model for my own children and instill in them a passion for the life of the mind which, I am convinced, represents the only solid guarantee for a better, more meaningful life. Being a polyglot, it gives me tremendous insight in the life, customs, and experiences of other cultures helping me, at the same time, to better and more subtlety understand and appreciate my native culture and the culture of my new country. Traveling extensively from countries such as Egypt, Venezuela, France, Mexico, Italy and many more made me live unique experiences, which I believe, helped me acquire a connected view. A view, which according to John Newman is the true mark of excellence in education. I want to believe that my many but connected interests indicate that I am neither narrowly focused nor intellectually static. Rather, I aspire to grow in the future in a way that will lead to powerful cross-fertilization between related disciplines and hope that my preparation will be strong not just in my major, but also in other aspects of cultural history, including literature, philosophy, and the arts. Perhaps more importantly, my efforts are in becoming a role model for those who dream and work hard to transform aspirations in something real and significant.
