Colleen Mayhue
From Grandview, MO
My life has been far from what one might expect from a first encounter. I have experienced a healthy mix of rural living as well as city life, which I believe has given me a truly unique outlook on many subjects and also the opportunity to interact with and befriend people from a wide range of walks of life. Since childhood, I have exercised my inquisitive nature by participating in 4-H, expanding my eye and creativity in advanced art classes, vocalizing a 40 minute piece at Carnegie Hall, exercising my certification as a Zumba / Fitness instructor, and most recently by pursuing my lifelong dream to become a physician by completing the prerequisite courses at UMKC. I owe this unique upbringing to my parents, who have inspired and encouraged me to pursue excellence in all areas of life. They were the catalysts in my journey toward knowledge and for this I am ineffably grateful. A desire to know more was instilled in me early by my parents and I have been blessed to be able to further that love of learning by serving with a wonderful executive board at UMKC's Phi Kappa Phi, Chapter 103.
