My name is Cortney Sanders and I attend the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Government and African & African Diaspora Studies. I am a native Houstonian from Houston, Texas and enjoy traveling to other cities. My policy interests include Education, Human Rights, Domestic Defense, Housing, Civil Rights, and Social Welfare. Since at the University of Texas I have filed an amicus brief with my organization and serve as a student representative for the Supreme Court Case Fisher v The University of Texas, that deals will affirmative action in higher education. I was a participant in the Midwest Political Science Association Conference where I presented my research on the politics of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and its reauthorizations. Finally, I served as the assistant college coordinator for the Texas League of Young Voters a nonpartisan organization.
