Intern at The Vermont Country Store

During my college years, I was nervous when I learned I had to find an internship in order to fulfill my bachelors' degree. When I began working at The Vermont Country Store (VCS) in 2011, I knew they offered college students to intern at their company. However, my degree, Mass Media Communications, was not a department at VCS. When the time came closer, I began talking with my supervisor and the Distribution Center manager. I thought for sure I would have to intern somewhere else and lose out on an entire summer of pay. You can say I was starting to breakdown. VCS is the greatest. The human resource department was able to create a special internship just for me. My intern included making videos for the Distribution to use for Busy Season. I was excited to learn I was thought of to start a new project that was to get retail products sold only at the retail stores, Weston and Rockingham, on the website. This project I worked on with three other people. My duty was to take pictures of items that were popular in the stores and get the pictures ready using photoshop for the website. I learned a new aspect about VCS. This internship gave me a great realization of how each department commits and goes beyond to make VCS succeed every year since Vrest and Mildred Orton opened their doors.

Clerk 2/Seasonal Coordinator at Vermont Country Store

At The Vermont Country Store, I have grown to be a dependable and hard worker. I am well adapted with most of the tasks at the Distribution Center where product arrives and is eventually sent out to our external customers. The tasks are receiving, replenishment, returns, picking, packing, shipping, mispick/supply runner, and special handling. I am a quick learner and in 2016 Busy Season, I applied for the position of a Seasonal Coordinator. This task I was responsible for organizing and developing strong relationships with multiple individuals, from the DC managers, DC supervisors to the staff who works hard in The Vermont Country Store's 4th quarter. I am responsible at managing the floor and communicating with the team leaders/supervisors.

Housekeeping/Laundry at The Pines of Rutland

The Pines of Rutland is a nursing home and rehabilitation center for those who were injured. My responsibilities were cleaning an entire floor within a certain time. The floor had to be fully cleaned before 3pm the earliest. Cleaning involved the residents room making sure there was no built up of dust and to the supervisors' standards. It also involved cleaning the nurses' station and the lunch/activity room where the residents spent most of their time. My responsibility included to make sure any chemicals used were locked in the housekeeping cart and to understand the chemicals needed when cleaning.
In the laundry department, I was responsible for washing and drying all articles that came down from all the floors. Articles included bed sheets, hospital gowns used by the residents and bathing necessities. All the laundry had to be washed by 6pm and then most of it folded. Towards the end of the shift, I was responsible of delivering the washed items to each of the floor in order to have them restocked for the next day.

Customer Service at Namco Arcade

This was one of my first jobs I had before and after my out of state college. The arcade was a perfect fit for me because one of my hobbies was playing video games. My responsibilities at this job were cleaning of the games and the arcade. Refilling the tickets when the games got low and conducting with customers' who came in to play. I was in charge of handing out prizes in return for the tickets and stocking the prizes when they were low. The arcade also offered birthday parties for children. These days were the busiest, but always left a smile on my face when seeing the children engaging in the classic arcade games.
