Majoring in Chemistry
University at Albany
From West Park, NY
Background: When I got accepted into the University at Albany, I wanted to major in chemistry due to a very passionate teacher that inspired me. Little did I know that this major would really open my eyes to many different fields. My third year into studying biological chemistry, I met an amazing innovator, Tony Hoang, who gave me an amazing opportunity to join the makers movement. Because of my strong understanding of chemistry(a very abstract topic) Tony decided to invite me into his lab team. This opportunity let me use my imagination in developing anything and everything using various electronics and computer programming. An explosion of learning occurred when I first joined, from simple C coding to JavaScript, I very soon realized what an amazing skill it is to know and grasp the concept of improving technology. Interests: My job interests have swiftly changed from laboratory testing to software production and engineering. Working at Advanced Modular Instruments has allowed me to also explore more of my own projects that I have always wanted to try but never had the resources to. Along with interest in science and technology, I also enjoy Music and art. Playing guitar and piano for many years has also driven me to work on more technology to make learning these instruments easier. Update: Recently, I have accepted a job offer from Taconic biosciences as a project coordinator. I first learned about this job from a University at Albany career fair. As soon as I had my first interview at Taconic, I knew I wanted to be a part of the team. The amazing driven people that make up the company and my department in particular just really caught my eye. This was the perfect opportunity for me to transition my biological science background into a more management oriented role.
