Being a woman looking to expand her knowledge, I am always on the hunt for my next learning experience. I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I am pursuing a Bachelor's of Business Administration with a Human Resource Degree. My passion of learning can be seen through my six semesters of being on the Deans List with a 3.8 cumulative GPA. Being a Human Resource major, I have exposed myself to a large variety of business classes from Economics classes, Accounting classes, a Supply Chain Management class, to Business Statistics class. I of course have also been exposed core Human Resource classes such as Employee Benefits, and Training and Development. Along with business classes, I have exposed myself to other fields of study including Psychology, Women's Studies, and Jazz. Since July 2015, I have had the opportunity to obtain an internship with Johnson Control's (JCI) in Milwaukee, WI. In my first role, I was an intern to a Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) at the Milwaukee Business Center (MBC) facility within JCI. During my year as an intern, I learned the basics of Human Resource as well as provided support for senior level managers as well as the financial director of the MBC. November 2015 the announcement was made that he MBC would be closing and 276 roles would be outsourced to the Bratislava Business Center in Slovakia. For the next 9 months, I actively aided in the reduction in force. I helped manage to WARN letters, separation packets for impacted employees, manual tracking of severance agreements, as well as processing payments of retention bonuses, unused vacation, severance payments, and travel bonuses. With the closure of the MBC, I have transitioned to a new internship role within Corporate Human Resources at the JCI headquarters in Glendale. I am now supporting five HRBPs within the company. I have also had the opportunity work hands on in the Johnson Control's - Tyco merger that is currently underway.
