Isaac Moore

Majored in Business Administration
Grantham University, Class of 2012
From Brooklyn, NY

I cannot say that I chose Grantham University. I will say that Grantham University chose me. The question is how? This is because I do not remember submitting my name or any other information to this university. During the summer of 2011, I turned down many school offerings and requests simply because I had no confidence in the Education process in America. My hope and dreams were crushed during the 1990s and again in 2002. My first college adventure turned out to be and Indiana Jones crusade without the grail at the end of the movie. Or rather there was no entrance into the caves of higher learning acceptance. Retrieving this priceless artifact, artifact meaning degree, was completely out of my reach. My quest for knowledge was blocked more so for the rearing of my childhood in Brooklyn, New York, than anything else. Whats worse, I did not realize this until my second attempt at college in 2002. However, to blame others for certain failures in life wont help you achieve goals that you set for yourself. I am a fan of manifest destiny, with a heavy pinch of the omnipotent creators directions behind the scenes. So conclusions at this point was to, forget about school. I have enough education with many other administrative skills to land me a job and work my way to the top, where I thought I should be. Jacobs ladder at its best. Never landing the job of my dreams which was to work as some type of administrative specialist in a gigantic corporation, I settled for a $13.00 an hour job at a plant called IAC. Not my dream job, but I was most happy. I finally found the means to create my own family. This was the most important thing, to start a family. Both of my parents were dead before I was 13 years of age. My mother did not make it to see my 7th birthday. I had to learn from these ill-fated experiences that surely, I was not alone in. Never defeated by these loses, molding carpets for cars, indeed in the very town my father was born and raised, gave me a great since of purpose and an enormous since of pride. Being able to type 78 wpm with no errors was good, but molding carpets supplied the earnings for my new family. I was very content with this new lifestyle of living. I had goals to work at least 20 years at this plant and begin a family as my father had done before me. From 2005 to 2008 everything was grand. Bills and rent always paid. Nothing ever canceled like the cable. We had all the channels we wanted. Nice size savings account. Yes, I had become a provider. My wife did not have to work. This bliss however came to an abrupt halt at the fiscal year of 2008, the 2nd commencement of Americas Economic fall. I say the 2nd for the first was 9/11, when the world was to no longer have a place to trade. 2008 seemed to echo results of the destructions of 9/11, which was also the cause for me to never raise a family there. And now, this echo had finally reached the south where it threaten my most recent and grand existence. 2009 arrived, an in spite of a new leader and President, I was laid off with no hopes to work again. If Marion, North Carolina where I was working had been Gondor as in the movie The Two Towers, it indeed had fallen. My church is based in Newark, New Jersey. Unfortunately, we were never taught of the angelic spectrums and names that infect the religious worlds. Behold, a call from Michael Bermudez changed my life forever. My job search in the summer of 2011 had left me stranded and empty. My 2 year old daughters livelihood was threatened, and my manifest destiny plan had crumbled. Michaels unknown call source was perhaps that behind the scenes intervention. The next thing I knew, I was in school and now, loving every minute of it. I will not say that online education is for everyone but if you are like me, it is the perfect way to continue or start an education. I am now a Business Administration Major. My credits were transferred from my former university, which was a blessing. I will obtain my Associates Degree in under a years time. Wow! God does work in mysterious ways. Grantham has been a wonderful addition to my adventurous life thus far. Though trials seem to plague my existence, Grantham University has balanced out what can be hopeless and what is possible. With more than just a go for it attitude, Grantham has restored a since of educational achievement. The American education process, a driving force that I so lost in the 90s, hold more sustenance now than it ever had for me in the past. I am also a veteran but I would recommend Grantham University to any citizen trying to further their education. This is what matters most. Without an education, in these days of tribulation, you may find yourself at Helms Deep without a wizard in pursuit of a fantastic rescue. Thank you Grantham for the help provided in an attempt to begin again. The rest is up to me.
