Jamie Harrings

Currently a junior at Wartburg College studying Music Education with a minor in religion and a coaching endorsement. While at Wartburg, I have had the opportunity to be involved in various organizations increasing my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Some of the highlights from these experiences are serving as the Student Director for the service trips program in which I oversee the trips and assist leaders in sending out trips over three of Wartburg's breaks. Another opportunity to highlight is my position as a band librarian; this position has allowed me to prepare as a music education major in terms of work outside of rehearsal and festival prep. Over my summer breaks I have developed my professional skills. Over the summer of 2013 I moved to Arizona to work at Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas. Here, I developed my communication, organizational, and office skills as a rentals agent. In 2014 I lived in Waterloo, Iowa to work as a Leadership Intern through Camp Invention Inc where I led a group of twelve K-2 students through various science activities; I also served as a High School Leadership Intern where I cotaught a lesson over leadership to high school seniors and continue to stay in contact with my two mentees; as a Junior Camp Counselor for Wartburg College's Band Camp, I coached a saxophone quartet, taught a beginning saxophone class, and beginning theory. I am preparing to student teach this fall in Denver, Colorado. After graduation in May of 2016 I will pursue a career in music education.
