Born in the enchanted island of Puerto Rico, Jeniris Gonzalez has developed her musical skills as a dancer from caribbean rhythms such as salsa to hip-hop, flamenco, and ballet, she is a self-taught pianist, shes played flute and piccolo for almost 15 years, and her main musical instrument is her voice. Throughout her grade-school years, she dedicated all of her electives and free time to musical ensembles and received numerous awards and recognitions towards her educational career in music. With years of musical theory education, she studied in the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Carolina, a fine arts school in Puerto Rico that offers diplomas in many musical fields. In 2006, she entered the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras Campus), where she studied for three years and became a leading/soloing member of the Musical Theater ensemble, Puerto Rican Folk Ensemble, and Handbell Choir. Jeniris went on to represent Puerto Rico in the 2007 IMTA Talent Convention held in NYC, winning in every category she participated in Singing, Dancing, Modeling and Acting. Upon her return, she succeeded in a regional voice competition that covered all of the public universities on the island, becoming the 2009 Voice of the UPR system. During this time, Jeniris also gave music theory, piano, dance, and vocal coaching to students of all ages, services she is still offering. Among the many job positions she acquired within her field of study, Jeniris became the lead singer of a traveling cover band for over two years, enriching her performance skills that, combined with a strong sense of discipline, earned her an acceptance to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Jeniris received various merit/talent scholarships and grants towards her Berklee tuition and is currently working on her dual major in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance, along with a minor in Psychology. The trilingual performer is now certified in her fourth language American Sign Language (ASL 1) and will soon be getting her certification in Neurologic Music Therapy and International Business Italian. She hopes to continue onto graduate studies in Pediatric Epilepsy, and Mind, Body and the Brain at Harvard University. Jeniris was recently named Scholarship Ambassador for Berklee, representing the school at SIR Studios in Hollywood, LA. She is currently president of the Music Therapy Club at Berklee, working with the geriatric population at an Assisted Living facility, recording original songs, and organizing her plans to open music therapy clinics in various countries around the world including Italy, Australia, Spain, and her native Puerto Rico.
