Jessica McWilliams Spickes

University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Class of 2014
From Stuttgart, AR
Jessica McWilliams Spickes is an experienced writer, editor, proofreader, and researcher with a strong background that includes journalism, technical writing, political science, legal writing, interdisciplinary writing, rhetoric, and composition. She has used her graduate education to expand her already strong written-communication skills with experience in interpreting and creating technical documents as well as with interdisciplinary work to ensure that her writing can easily adapt to a variety of careers and environments. She is a self-motivated worker and team player with experience in a diverse range of professional writing from legal and grant writing to journalism and biographical writing. Much of Jessicas work focuses on writing with either a legal or a political nature. An example of this can be found in her most recent publication, The Case of Atticus Finch: A Modern Dissoi Logoi for Lawyers. This article combines her passion for the legal profession and her skill at classical rhetorical analysis to effectively argue both sides of an argument, without sacrificing the success of her case. Additionally, her online portfolio showcases many examples of her political and legal writing including a collection of case briefs and legal arguments, articles critiquing political movements and court cases, and an example of a legal contract. You can find a link to her portfolio below.
