Kaissa Sakouvogui

Majoring in Undecided
Illinois College
From Beardstown, IL

My name is kaissa Sakouvogui; I am nineteen years old and I am from Beardstown IL. I grew up in nuclear family where moral life, religion, tradition and culture things are very valued. I have two brothers one oldest and one youngest than me. My oldest brother is studying computer science in Quincy University; I am very close to him. We usually do every together since we were child, he is like my best friend. In my family we believe in one god and his son Jesus Christ as our savior. When I was 15 years old my family and I immigrated to the United States from West Africa, republic of Guinea. Like many immigrant my family had a difficult journey like lack of money, because my dad could find a job in the country even though he went to school. The government was just hiring their relative so that why we came in the United States of American. I sometime like to be lonely, I mean close my door room sit down in the dark or go to a place where I can be alone to think about my past and future. I remember when I was a child I usually like to walk by myself or only my brother because I had always been told by my grandparents that solidarity was a bad idea. One of the thing that Illinois College though me is that solidarity can be both, it dependent on the way you behave yourself. I feel like Im still in the process of learning the ropes of college but I have made a big change and I think other people see it if not I know I do. I came in not knowing what to expect not knowing how to conquer some of the work given but in the end I did it and Im proud of myself for how much I have grown. My ways have changed over the course of the semester and I know I still have some flaws I need to work out and there is room to grow more so I will continue to work with myself and change so I can be ready for my sophomore year of college
