Kelsey Hill

Hi! My name is Kelsey. I recently started at Columbia State and I'm so excited! I am enrolled as Pre Allied Health with a Nursing concentration. I hope to be accepted into the Nursing program next year. I went to school at National Health Care in Lawrenceburg to get my CNA certification. Before I was ever certified, I got a job working for that company. I worked there for seven months and received a full time position just three months after I started. Just recently I submitted my resignation before starting school to better my efforts in my classes. I won't stop there though. September 8, 2014 I will start my part-time job with Quality First Home Care to continue to learn, experience different things, and meet new people who also have interests in the health care field while also making time for my studies. My first goal is to become an RN. I have high hopes to continue into the bridge program through Columbia State to get my BSN as well. After that, I'd like to turn what is now just a hobby into an actual career and that is to become a licensed cosmetologist. In high school, I took a few classes and even went to regional competition for hair cutting/styling. Some personal problems arose and I graduated from Lawrence County High School in 2013, seven months ahead of my class. It seems to be a disadvantage for me now, as other students have studied more recently than I have. I won't let it slow me down! My main focus is and will continue to be Nursing, with cosmetology as more of a side job because I enjoy it to much not to have it! I consider myself very determined to reach the goals I've set. I'm also eager to share this journey with my fellow students, who have set big goals as well!
