When you’re a child, you are taught not to stand out, to go with the status quo. But when your mind works like mine, you can do nothing BUT stand out. I always got my work done too fast, and teachers said my imagination was too active, but I never let that stop me. I’ve never been one to blend in, and even at a young age I could feel the energy of my creativity in my bones, pushing me to do something more. When asked in third grade what I wanted to do when I grew up, I said that I wanted to be a college student and a writer. The University of Iowa called my name like an exciting new world, and in this new world, you are awarded for being different, for thinking outside of the box. Since I’ve arrived, my hunger for knowledge has been matched, and my drive for excellence has been celebrated. With over five years of food service and customer service experience, two years of OnIowa Leadership , and one year as a Student Supervisor, my communication and interpersonal skills along with my love of relationship building make me a team-player, but also give me the experience I need to lead a team or situation to success. I am that person you meet that you never forget, the person who is slightly odd, but the kind of odd that makes you want to know them. I am that person who cares about people deeply, the person who you can depend on to do what is asked of them and rise to the occasion when needed. I will go above and beyond to accomplish the goals I set. Now that I’ve accomplished my childhood dreams of College and writing-I was always a little nerdy-I’m ready to expand my new world and use my drive and creativity to be a part of something even bigger. As an English Major with a minor in communications and skills in leadership and management, I have an extensive buffet of contributions, and I’m ready to feed the world!
