Was mentored by a PhD student at Dartmouth College studying immunology. Was taught basic laboratory skills and protocols and was in charge of experiments on the topic of trogocytosis (i.e. “shaving”). Worked on understanding the differences between Rituximab and Obinutuzumab (therapeutic anti-CD20 antibodies) in mediating trogocytosis and the resulting changes in cellular phenotype. The differences being how the clustering of Rituximab affects CD20 and the other B cell surface proteins when “shaving” occurs, including proteins that localize in the lipid rafts and those that do not, and how the lack of clustering in the presence of Obinutuzumab affects the same processes.
