The World Heritage Initiative is developing a draft of serial nominations for several U.S. Civil Rights sites for consideration by the National Park Service Office of International Affairs, with the ultimate goal of inclusion in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Performing records research and documentation and conducting oral history interviews pertaining to those buried in the historically African American section of the Decatur Cemetery, known as Section 6. Additionally, assisting in educational programming and tours, writing copy for promotional materials, and website development. I am currently in the process of conducting oral history interviews with past residents of the former Beacon community of Decatur to gain further insight into the historic lives of African Americans in the Decatur community and beyond, including those buried in Section 6. I was among the recipients of the 2016 City of Decatur Hometown Heroes Award for my efforts.
