From Knoxville, Tenn.
I am a geographer and dendrochronologist currently pursuing my PhD in Geography at the University of Tennessee. My doctoral research uses tree rings in relic and living whitebark pine to investigate Holocene climate change in the Beartooth Mountains of Northwest Wyoming. I specialize in dendrochronology, geomorphology, biogeography, climatology, and human-environment interactions. My thesis research at UT used dendrogeomorphic methods to reconstruct the history of a debris slide scar on Mt. Le Conte in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In addition to dendrogeomorphology, I also enjoy research in dendroarchaeology, dating historic frame structures, log cabins, canoes, and most anything made of wood. I have assisted my colleagues in other fields of dendrochronology, including fire history studies, climate reconstruction, ecology, stand dynamics, and more.
