The Right Turn Initiative is a program that serves youth 16-19 who have been involved with the juvenile justice system within the last 12 months and have not been charged as an adult. Other eligibility requirements are as follows: -Youth can be under the supervision of Juvenile Justice either in facility, on probation or on parole. -This includes an alternative sentence or those in a diversion program. -Prospective candidates for the Right Turn Program must currently reside in (or resided in before confinement) the LMPD Divisions 1, 2, 4, or 6. -If unsure if your youth resides in one of the included divisions feel free to contact us or go to mapit.louisvilleky.gov to enter the address, then the police division will be provided. Mission Behind Bars and Beyond directly addresses these causes of / and seeks to reduce the rate of recidivism among ex-offenders released from prison. The project adopts a multi-layer, holistic approach that begins with the individual while incarcerated, assists with pre-release preparations, and provides support and assistance once the individual returns to the community. Studies have shown that connections with well-trained, volunteer-led Support Teams radically reduces the rate of ex-offender recidivism and produces productive, contributing, tax-paying responsible community members.
