Working with Youth Villages, Inc. since 2017. My job is to provide complete support to the general counsel during any litigation by sending out preservation notices to preserve evidence, responding to discovery, investigation instructions letters during investigation of Medicaid fraud cases, internal investigations, any other criminal investigations, departmental complaints against the company, and any other corporate transactions. I also perform legal research and public records research to help the general counsel in advising and guiding company senior leadership.
Further, I support GC in drafting contracts with outside business partners and Business Associate Agreements for HIPAA compliance.
I assist in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of organization information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with organization management and administration, and legal counsel. I work with organization senior management and corporate compliance officer to establish an organization-wide HIPAA privacy compliance.
I assist the general counsel and management, key departments, and committees to ensure that the organization has and maintains appropriate HIPAA privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms, and information notices and materials reflecting current organization and legal practices and requirements.
I participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business associate agreements to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed.
I work with all organization personnel involved with any aspect of release of protected health information in response to a subpoena, court order, or any other discovery requests, to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the organizations policies and procedures and legal requirements.
I maintain current knowledge of applicable Federal and State privacy laws.
Also, I serve as a team secretary for The Fiscal Fraud and Abuse Team, and I work on cases involving intellectual property rights, employment related lawsuits, and other general liability lawsuits involving corporate defense. Sat on mediations involving employment disputes.
U.S. Court of Appeals for Sixth Circuit: Internship May 2024-August 2024
Performed extensive legal research to draft bench memo for the Court prior to issuing court opinion, drafted en banc petition review recommendations, reviewed draft court opinions for citations, and observed court proceeding for Federal District Courts and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals hearings including En Banc Hearings.
