David Seward
I am considered a "non-traditional" student, which is code for OLD. (LOL!) But seriously, I never thought I was smart enough to get into college, let alone succeed!
At age 42, I finally realized that the only way I could get out of dead-end jobs where the only requirement was a strong back and a weak mind was to get a college degree.
So I took a long hard look at my dreams that I had when I was younger, my current interests, and possible careers in fields that had long-term growth potential.
One of my youthful dreams was to make the world (or at least the sphere of my influence) a better place. I combined my lofty goal, my interest in sleep disorders (as I suffer from Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Narcolepsy), and the growth potential that exists in Polysomnography, I discovered Genesee Community College and the Polysomnography Technologies program.
Every day I come to school excited and eager to learn! I enjoy every class and look forward to every challenge. My only regret is that I didn't do this 25 years ago, but then again I probably wasn't mature enough to appreciate it look I do today!
