Rhonda Cortez

Member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
From Madison, AL

I am majoring in English, but my degree will be in English Secondary Education. With my degree, I hope to teach either middle school or high school students. I have previous experience with subbing in the K-12 public school system, and I love being with the students in front of that classroom. I aspire to be be a teacher and a mentor to all students that come into my classroom. My goal is to instill in my students a love for the written word and the classics of literature. I have two children. My daughter, Kara-Alysia, is 3 years old, and my son, Alexander, is 6 months old. As a non-traditional returning student and mother of two, I have to be well-organized to manage my studies and receive the grades that I do. I believe that anything is possible with a little hard work, determination, and the desire to succeed.
