Kiara Shelley
I am a 23 years old that was born and raised in Schenectady,Ny. I am the oldest child of three,from my mother who raised us in a single parent home. Since the age of 14 I have worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady Corporation at there club houses during the school years and at Camp LoveJoy during the summer. Over theses nine years I have moved up through out the corporation from a counselor in training to a counselor, dance specilast and now a Unit Leader of the 11,12 and 13,14 year olds. While working with the inner city youth of Schenectady, I earned my Regents high school diploma at Schenectady High School and my Associates Degree in Criminal Justince at Schenectady County Community College. With my nine years experiencethat I gained with the Boys and Girls Club I gained a passion to want to be a probation officer with juveniles.

Unit Team Leader at Camp Love Joy
As Unit Leader I am responsible for the counselors that work with the eleven, twelve and thirteen and fourteen years olds while at camp love joy. I am responsible for the paper work of the kids that acted out at camp love joy. I am also responsible to help calm down those kids.

Bus captain at Camp Love Joy
I was responsible for checking in campers at the got on my bus and when the got off my bus at there bus stops. My duties were also to keep the children safe while on the bus and to talk to parents when there child did not act in a safe way on the bus. My duties we to take medicines from children and hand them to the nurse at the camp grounds. I was also in charge of the staff on my bus to make sure that they were acting in a safe way on the bus with the children so they can do there job properly. I was bus captain and unit leader at the same time this year

Games room specialist at Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady
During the school year I am th games room specialist at the Mount pleasant club house. While in the games room, I ran tournaments with each age group 6 through 12, the tournaments would consist of bumper pool, foosball and bored games. Each day was a different tournment to keep the kids interested in the new things the club house gave them. I would also run challengers with the kids that were academic based to improve ther thinking skills.

Dance Specialist at Camp Love Joy
As a dance specialist, I was responsible to teach ages 6 through 14 an appropriate dance to perform for friends and family at Camp Love Joys family night. Each age group learned a 2 to 3 min dance. I taught them hip hop routines that they performed.

Counselor at Camp Love Joy
I was responsible for escorting campers to there daily activities while at camp love joy. I am also responsible for maintaining a well balanced bus ride for the kids to and from the camp grounds.
