Simona Minns is a jazz singer, arranger and composer. Simona also plays a Lithuanian traditional instrument – kankls.
In 2007 she started her jazz vocal performance studies and in 2011 she graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater with a bachelor’s degree in jazz vocal performance. The very same year she was accepted to the Berklee College of Music and started her studies in 2012. Presently Simona is studying her fourth semester and majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production.
Simona embraces a wide range of styles and genres in her creative life. She performs jazz standards, her own arrangements, contemporary music, her own compositions. In her creative life she tries to find a connection between Eastern modes, aesthetics and philosophy and a specific Lithuanian sound.
Simona performs in rock operas, musicals and leads her own jazz projects. She keeps looking for the new forms of EVT – Extended Vocal Technique. She is involved in a variety of projects from traditional jazz to avant-garde projects of art synthesis where free jazz and other forms of expression are blended.
Aside from musical activities, Simona writes articles on culture topics, reviews, scripts, drama pieces, opera librettos.
