I am a graduate student pursuing a Master's of Arts in History. My thesis follows the life of Madam Josephine Decuir. Chiefly a social history, my thesis examines Madam Decuirs attempt to maintain her Creole identity, privileged social status, and wealth in Louisiana's legal system after the Civil War. My fields of study include, but are not limited to: 19th century history Women's Studies Southern History Trans-Atlantic History
