I am a graduate student pursuing a Master's of Arts in History. My thesis follows the life of Madam Josephine Decuir. Chiefly a social history, my thesis examines Madam Decuirs attempt to maintain her Creole identity, privileged social status, and wealth in Louisiana's legal system after the Civil War.
