Hmm, what can I tell you about me? Mediocrity and complacency appall me. I don't care what you do in life, you need to do it to the best of your ability. My Grandmother always said to me that even if you're a floor sweeper then you be the best floor sweeper that this world has ever seen, and I believe that.
My life is dedicated to my family, and to alleviating the suffering of others. I am very active within the community because I believe that our sole purpose in life is to love and support one another. I am a proud member of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team (since 2004), and serve as the Team Leader for the nine surrounding counties; I work with the food bank yearly to deliver food to the less fortunate during holidays; I am the owner and founder of FreeCycle Statesboro, and I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and the local food bank, when time permits. I hope to have more time in the future, once my children are grown, to do so much more. Oh, and I a veteran of the Army, where I was known as "Army Barbie". Hooah, baby ;-)
My life is also dedicated to the memory of my very best friend, my Grandmother, Delores Ashworth, who valiantly fought cancer until the end and BEAT it, although the radiation destroyed her lungs and claimed her life. My Grandmother passed on March 20, 2010 and died a painful death due to lung cancer. She wasn't a smoker, but it happened to her, and if you ARE a smoker it can and almost certainly will happen to you. I watched her die and I beseech you, do not choose that path for yourself or your family. Losing my Grandmother is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I still fight daily to overcome it.
Also, I lost my Grandfather, George Lambert,on June 16, 2010. I love and miss you, Popaw.
RIP Uncle Elmer, 08/03/2010
Last, but definitely not least, RIP Melissa Sailer. She was my very best friend and died in our car accident when we were 18 years old. There isn't a day that goes by that I do not think of her or her family. I'm so deeply sorry.
RIP Missy, 11/22/1982- 01/30/2001
