Alexandra Gardella

My main passion in life is women's rights, and in my career I aim to advance women's positions politically, socially, and economically. As a graduate student in English at San Diego State University, I read a lot of books. My main interest in studying these pieces of literature is to examine how women are portrayed, what agency they are afforded, and how they are treated by others. I strive to use my professional and analytic writing skills to positively impact women's lives and, by extension, change the fundamental way people view women. During my undergraduate career, I majored in English and double minored in Rhetoric and Writing Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies (through the Weber Honors College). Intensive research in literary theory combined with the diversity trainings required by my on-campus positions allowed me to gain a solid understanding of cultural competency. I consider myself a firm believer in inclusivity and a devout proponent of intersectional identities.
