Founder/Editor at Etcetera Collaborative Magainze
We experienced some technical difficulties, so the site is not yet developed.
Zach and I are in the process of starting a new, collaborative magazine on campus. There has never been anything on this campus like it. Entitled Et Cetera, it will serve as an online, interdisciplinary magazine predicated on an ability to interpose and connect the many intellectual and artistic endeavors of Geneseo students from all fields of study. It is our hope, in other words, to provide a collaborative digital space for our peers to publish material they feel reflects their collegiate experiences as scholars, thinkers, and individuals. Throughout our brainstorming process, we came to the conclusion that we would include art, photography, fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, music files, videos, personal reflections, and scholarly essays, both critical and research oriented, from all majors and disciplines. As well, we believe Et Cetera will benefit from an open forum, which would serve as a place where students can go to unselfconsciously relay their thoughts and discuss sundry topics outside the confines of academia. Ideally, the site would publish bimonthly throughout the school year, consisting in, as we see fit, workshops and/or critical consultations with those individuals submitting material. We believe a writing workshop, moreover, is an invaluable academic experience, but too few students find such an opportunity due to their major’s respective limitations. As a result, we hope to premise Et Cetera’s submission process on peer evaluation to give each author the prospect of improvement prior to publication.
More than anything, it is our belief that Et Cetera has the potential to supply Geneseo with a noteworthy medium for intellectual and creative exploration.
