Lafayette College, Class of 2016
From Coal Township, PA
Through my time as a student, I have experienced many facets of higher education, which have led me to pursue a position in a related area. I am currently seeking an internship in higher education administration, development, admissions, policy, or student affairs. --- Upon entering college, I had the goal of heading to medical school and becoming a surgeon. I have since changed that goal entirely. My time in college, so far, has led me to experience things outside of my comfort zone and led me to a new passion, one which lies in Higher Education. I have a desire to influence the lives of college students in the way that my college influenced and helped me develop as an adult. I credit my college experience to the positions I reached for, getting some, missing others, and the individuals in administration and other offices that helped me along the way. I can truly see myself excelling in areas related to college life and college administration. I see great value in many of these position, as they have a direct influence on the lives of students. --- Though I do not know the exact area of higher education I want to align myself with, over the last year I have narrowed it down to the areas with a high impact. Impact on the college, or the students that attend the institution. I consider myself hardworking and will not stop until the students are getting the best they deserve. My calm and approachable demeanor allows for open conversation and great collaboration with others. My personal characteristics, aligned with my experiences in this area truly keep me engaged and looking for the next step in my career, be it graduate level work, or immersion in a college environment soon after graduation.
