The mission of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Dairy Farm Business Summary and Analysis Program (DFBS) is to improve the accounting and financial analysis techniques, develop managerial skills, and solve business and financial management problems of dairy farm operators. This will be accomplished by farm operators participating in the business analysis program and comparing their farm's performance with state and regional averages, attending DFBS workshops and discussing current issues with other cooperators. The objectives of the program are to: 1. Assist dairy farm operators in developing and maintaining more complete and accurate farm business data. 2. Assist dairy farm operators in improving managerial skills through appropriate use of farm business data, and the application of modern analysis and decision making techniques. 3. Identify the current costs and returns, and changes occurring on dairy farms. 4. Improve the field staff and faculty interaction on addressing current issues and problems facing dairy farms.
