Supportive Day Program Assistant at Danvers Council on Aging & Senior Center

Capstone Internship - Spring 2017 Semester - provided socialization, some supervision and support and minimal assistance with activities of daily living to participants of the Supportive Seniors Day Program, which included clients with multiple physical problems but who are stable and do not need nursing observation or nursing intervention. Participants can communicate (though not necessarily verbalize), and there may be some cognitive impairment, but the resulting behavior can be handled with redirection and reassurance. Offered companionship in a safe and stimulating environment to clients while helping to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks. Assisted in setting up of program space and implementation of daily activity programs.

9th Grade Classroom Assistant at Children's Center for Communication / Beverly School for the Deaf

Merrimack Service Learning Project - Spring 2016 Semester - worked directly with three 16-year old students who are either deaf or hearing, with additional physical or cognitive issues such as cerebral palsy and/or Autism. Worked specifically with one student in a vocation training program to help learn daily tasks such as food preparation. Also worked one-on-one with students during written classroom assignments, using sign-language to communicate.
