Cole Smith

A native of Conyers, Georgia, Cole Smith is an active performer in the metro Atlanta area. Specializing in woodwinds, Cole has performed on saxophone, clarinet, and flute in various jazz and concert ensembles and in musical theatre productions such as Music Man, Hairspray, Footloose, and Gershwins Crazy for You. He has soloed with the Clayton State University Big Band in Spivey Hall and has marched with the Georgia State University Marching Band in the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. Cole currently plays with the Georgia Perimeter College Wind Ensemble, the Clayton State University Big Band, the Georgia State University Wind Orchestra, and the Georgia State University Marching Band. He has performed with Sam Skelton, Jason Passmore, Greg McLean, and Charles Marshall. As a classical saxophonist, Cole has given numerous performances as a soloist and chamber musician. Recently, he was featured as a concerto soloist performing John Williams Catch Me if You Can with the Georgia Perimeter College Wind Ensemble. As an educator, Cole maintains a private saxophone studio. Cole has studied jazz and classical saxophone and clarinet at Clayton State University with Stacey Houghton and flute at Georgia Perimeter College with Slava Prudchenko. Cole is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Georgia State University where he studies classical saxophone with Dr. Jan Baker.
