HEALTHCARE: Through hospice, a patient’s quality of life is improved through the control of pain and symptoms, and emotional and spiritual support. Hospice facilities are required by Medicare to provide patient interaction, which Acclaim accomplishes through the volunteer patient visitor program. This provides an opportunity for pre-medical students to develop patient interaction skills in a clinical environment and to see health care at this juncture.
