Diane Schafer-Mayse

University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Class of 2015
From Harmony, Florida
DATA FOCUSED PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE I have solid experience using business and educational data-driven models to determine customer learning and development needs and then designing, implementing, and evaluating training and organizational development solutions to support knowledge and skill development while creating customer satisfaction and organizational success. RESEARCH I recently completed my Ph.D. in Internet Based Education at the University of Nebraska. My dissertation research looked at "How 7th Graders are using Asynchronous Resources in an Online Science Course: A Mixed Methods Study". In this study I observed students completing 55 lessons in the online environment and used survey and interview data to better understand how students were using the asynchronous resources in the Connections Academy Middle School Science curriculum for learning. The results of my study were presented at the iNACOL Blended and Online Learning Symposium in Orlando, FL in October, 2013, and at a Pearson "Latte" presentation in February 2014 and my research has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Online Learning Research (December, 2015). I am currently looking for additional research opportunities in the areas of student learning in the online and blended environment, teaching in the online environment, and developing virtual school instructional leadership skills for new virtual school leaders who do not have prior experience teaching in the online environment.
