This study was designed with the help of my academic advisor in order to study the role of language communication in the acquisition of new concepts. The primary question was how language impacts a person's conceptual organization when encountering novel situations. Proper language is critical to teaching and training so the results of this study contribute to a greater understanding of techniques for pedagogical success.

Newark YES Club Student Volunteer
I visited YES Club, Newark, Ohio's afterschool program for adolescents age 11-18, weekly and designed activities to engage the students over the course of the semester. I held a program in which I introduced the students to problem solving using different Rubik's-type puzzles in which the students were able to de-stress while exploring their curiosity and speak openly about topics of interest.
