Emily Correia

I'm an earth science education student and an avid lover of being and working outdoors, teaching others, and broadening my mind and perspectives through traveling. Academically, I enjoy grammar, theater and live performance, and exploring various connections between art and science. Regarding the sciences specifically, I'm particularly interested in geology and geomorphology, stratigraphy and sedimentology, and marine biology/ecology. I've done extensive geological fieldwork throughout much of New York State, and have focused on the stratigraphy, sedimentation, and paleontology of Silurian through Devonian-aged rocks that span from New Paltz to Niagara Falls. I also have a vast array of knowledge about the plants, animals, and processes of salt marsh ecosystems. My long-term goals include potentially moving to the southwest, becoming an educator (be it in a traditional school setting, or otherwise, e.g. outdoor education), and helping my future students cultivate a love and appreciation of the natural world.
