The goal for the summer-long internship was to fabricate functioning electrodes by the end of the summer. This task was fulfilled in mid-July, with 9 fully functioning electrodes being crafted. Additional responsibilities included preparing a Leica CM4500 cryostat for optimal functioning; Preparing an aluminum sealed Faraday cage; Preparing a sodium cyanoaurate and platinum chloride solution for future electrode plating; Additionally, a research partnership was brokered with a fellow laboratory.
I designed and lead the investigation of a multi-discipline research project that combined the fields of psychiatry, biochemistry, and statistics in order to identify clinical similarities or differences among Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors(SSRI) in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. The project combined an empirical analysis that obtained primary data from psychiatrists with a meta-analysis and statistical consolidation of available clinical trials for each SSRI.
