Dr. Hoa Nguyen joined the Valdosta State University faculty in July 2017. She received her doctorate degree from Virginia Tech, in Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. She teaches MFT Practicum, Foundations in Family Therapy, Couples and Sex Therapy, Legal Issues, and Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice. Her research focuses on dialogic pedagogy, sexual and gender identities, queer families, and cultural humility in family therapy. As a clinical supervisor and therapist, she believes therapy is not about changing people. Therapy is about inviting people to transform their relationships and create space for new possibilities.
