Majoring in International Business
San Diego State University
From San Diego, CA
I am a student attending San Diego State University pursuing a major in both International Business with an emphasis in Chinese and Computer Science. I have always had a desire to explore new places and understand those varying cultures in order to have a greater understanding of the world and my fellow peers that I share it with. Currently, my interest is in Asia, especially China. Through my International Business degree I have been fortunate enough to spend a semester abroad in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and also one month during the summer in Beijing, China. Both of these trips were educational, allowing me to study and practice Chinese, however, I found the greatest joy to be the people I met and places visited. Both trips have left me with a greater understanding of the world as a whole but more with a greater urge to travel in the future. Last semester I started my second major Computer Science as I will be finishing International Business after the 2015 spring semester. My interests in computers stems from the additional coursework taken while studying International Business. After learning some of the basic principles of programming, computing, and technology I realized how little I truly know and how much more there is to study in this field. I enjoy programming because it involves solving real world problems using mathematics and computational operators and operands. Furthermore, I feel that software is a major component of shaping our future technology. Outside of school I am usually focused on researching anything technology related, reading, building computers (recently, nand2tetris), golfing, or enjoying quality time with friends and family. Another area of constant reflection for me is the future (usually related to technology as you may have guessed). One of my major inspirations is Ray Kurzweil, a futurists, author, and Director of Engineering at Google.
