Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Assistant at Army Community Services contracted by ENSYNC dms
Assisted EFMP manager in identifying, coordinating, and obtaining resources for military families who have a physical, developmental, emotional, or intellectual handicap. Processed and made initial contact with over 500 service members who indicated a need for services. Initiated and conducted post wide Autism Awareness Month activities to include participation in “Light it Up Blue,” sensory story time for kids with special needs, and an effective outreach initiative to the Fort Developed promotional material for support group meetings and EFMP activities and disseminated information through a distribution list of over 400 family members and social media outlets. Assists in maintaining a respite care program for handicapped family members, where such services are not available through existing military and civilian activities. Initiates contact with potential respite care providers in order to screen, facilitate local and national agency background checks, and certify respite caregivers are vetted according to Army Community Service standards.

Provide employment information and referral services in the areas of job search skills, education, training, transition and volunteer opportunities for service members and their Families. Conduct bi-monthly workshops on the process of applying for federal work, federal resume writing, and job search skills. Provided one on one follow-up session with clients to critique completed resumes. Utilized computer skills to design effective marketing strategies. Maintain social media with nearly 1600 followers, increasing the reach by nearly 20% in one year. Linked over 2,000 clients to 266 local and national businesses who are registered with the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. Planned and executed job fairs focused on employing military spouses. Assisted with coordination of a US Chamber of Commerce/Hiring Our Heroes National Transition Summit with over 70 employers, and 500 preregistered job seekers. Designed and wrote articles for a weekly newsletter, "Transition Summit Thursday" in which preparation tips and examples were provided for summit attendees.
