Jessica Bustamante

I am a third-year law student at the University of Massachusetts School of Law. My academic, personal and professional experience have started in me a keen interest in various types of law including but not limited to antitrust, civil and human rights and corporate law. While obtaining a Political Science degree at the Catholic University of America, I have had the opportunity to study and analyze public policies and serve as an intern at both an Environmental Engineering firm and law firm. This experience exposed me to a diverse set of legal issues ranging from permit reporting requirements to legal regulations. In addition, I was allowed the opportunity to witness the critical role that attorneys play in ensuring the protection of human health and the environment. I was able to develop basic fact-finding and investigation skills through participation in the review of our client's environmental permit requirements and the issues raised in the civil or criminal enforcement actions. As a legal assistant, I have been able to work hands on supporting attorneys in different areas of practice by conducting research, communicating with the court, clients, and various institutions to obtain documentation or familiarize myself with regulations.
