Julia Prentiss

Member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
From Derwood, Maryland
I chose math and psychology as my main fields of interest, but I genuinely enjoy a wide variety of topics and consider myself a lifelong learner. I like to fill my spare time with creating art, especially in the form of drawing, writing, or making music. I believe my strength in mathematics lies in the more theoretical classes, which I enjoy tutoring in my university's math lab. As for psychology, I find my passion in the study of mental disorders, especially bipolar disorder and the personality disorders. Herein I have found some of my main research interests, although my current research is more sociological in nature. I'm currently working on Social Network Analysis, which is a healthy combination of Graph Theory (a mathematical pursuit) and a sociological perspective (which is quite close to some of my psychological interests). Finding this marriage of these two fields has been a dream come true, and I'd be interested in similar research as a future career.
