Julie Rodriguez

Previously I volunteered through the non-profit organization ConnSACS.  Through this agency I did community education on rape and sexual assault at high schools, universities, prisons (VOICES program), and various Take Back the Nights. I was on the Victim/Survivor Board in Hartford which allowed us to be active in legislation, as well as program creation and upgrades.  I also became a certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor.  I worked as an Assistant Manager of a group home for women who were mentally and physically disabled.  It was a fast paced position, necessary in having multitasking skills and organization. The house I worked in was very medical and it enhanced my public health knowledge. I worked closely with professionals such as case workers, doctors, and numerous types of therapists. I helped with writing behavioral and daily activity planning, as well as quarterly and annual reports for each client. At all times I had to remain CPR, First Aid, and Medical Certified. Because of my past experiences, I am interested in the Sociological and Public Health aspect of Women's Issues.
