I am a teacher specializing in teaching ESL. I am currently pursuing an M.A. degree in TESOL and teaching at the university while I study. I taught English in the U.S. to grade 7 students. Then following my first year of teaching, I moved to Thailand for one year to teach ESL. The experience inspired me to study for the M.A. in TESOL so that I could make teaching abroad my permanent career. I will graduate with my M.A. in May 2017 and have been admitted to the PhD in English (TESL) program at Oklahoma State University. I will begin this program in August 2017. Currently, however, I am focusing on my master's thesis, which is on the use of Montessori methods in the ESL classroom. I am studying and researching the psychology behind Montessori and Second Language Learning methods and principles to discover if the methods can be paired in such a way to further benefit students learning a second language. I also am researching The Optimal Distance Model of Language Acquisition as well as theories of ethno-lingual relativity and experimenting with these methods in my instruction of university English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses.
