Kiyona Mizuno

Lead peer tutors in providing academic support students; create and deliver workshops on academic areas; develop and implement trainings for peer tutors; provide oversight of the Academic Resource Commons; serve as liaison to departments; meet on a weekly basis with ARC staff to discuss and address emerging issues in the center; fulfill peer writing tutor duties as needed.

Provide one hour tours to prospective students, their families, and additional visitors to campus, act as front desk receptionist, co-host admission and financial aid information sessions with admission officers, complete administrative work, and participate in (and help to coordinate) summer admission events.

Construct made-to-order garments and alters garments and scenic soft goods. Attend fittings to assist and take notes for Costume Manager or Costume Designer when needed. Perform other duties as assigned by Costume Manager. Assist in the maintenance of the Costume Stock. Assist as a Dresser for stage productions when necessary. Assist in the maintenance of costumes during the production period, including repairs, laundry, shoe polishing, etc.

My undergraduate senior thesis looked at the historical background of haute couture as well as the design and sewing techniques used in constructing haute couture garments; I applied those techniques to the construction of a fully tailored wool coat in the style of the 1950s.
