Mary is a positive and enthusiastic sophomore at Ithaca College majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications. While taking courses in the Roy H. Park School of Communications to prepare herself for a career in the IMC field, she has also immersed herself in the Ithaca College community through her involvement with intramural sports, volunteering with Longview, a not-for-profit senior living facility, as well as the Public Relations Student Society of America. She has been able to effectively work on a team through her position as a Resident Assistant for the 2016-2017 school year, as well as demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. Mary has had vital experiences and exposure to the communications field, most recently through her position as the Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator for Patrick Place, a comfort care home. Through this experience, she has been able to make a positive impact on her hometown community through engaging people and inviting the community to be a part of the excitement with this newest addition to the town. She has a passion and zest for connecting people and communities, and seeks to surround herself with committed people working hard to make positive impacts in our world. Mary is currently serving as a summer 2017 intern at The Knox Museum located in Thomaston, ME. While in this position, she engages the public on the life of General Henry Knox, creates and develops social content, plans and executes events, and serves as a tour guide. Mary has also accepted a position to serve as Treasurer on the executive board for the Public Relations Student Society of America for the 2017-18 academic year.

RA on the Residential Learning Community floor at Ithaca College, Interfaith. The Interfaith Floor is committed to educating residents through exploring world religions together. Highlights of this position include inviting Tim Shenk from Cornell University to speak on Christianity and collaborating with Ithaca College's Hillel at an Israel 101 event to learn more about Jewish culture. Committed to the RA position through: • Providing support and encouragement to 17 residents when experiencing personal or academic concerns • Building community for upper-years students through inclusive, engaging events and community dinners • Educating residents to help them develop intellectually, socially, and culturally • Managing administrative tasks related to residence hall functions, including completing paperwork and meeting deadlines • Informing residents about and enforcing residential life policies/documenting policy violations • Maintaining a positive attitude supportive of the department and staff team "Working closely with a full-time Residence Director (RD) or Community Director (CD), the RA/AA is responsible for the overall supervision of a residence hall floor of approximately 25-50 residents or apartment community of 120-175 residents. As a member of the Residential Life staff, the RA/AA works to foster the development of a community in a floor or apartment area through a variety of methods. It is important for RA/AAs to be willing to develop interpersonal skills necessary for working with a wide variety of people. They should have a genuine interest in working with other students and helping these students develop intellectually, socially, and culturally. RA/AAs play a key role in the Ithaca College Office of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs. They are the foundation of the staff and have the responsibility to serve as an administrator, organizer, programmer, disciplinarian and role model for the residents of their hall or apartment areas."
